PROPOSITIONS OF THE 12th INTERNATIONAL CHOIR CHAMPIONSHIP

“LEGE ARTIS” TUZLA 2027

The organizing committee of the International Choir Championship “Lege Artis” Tuzla, made the Decision that the International Choir Championship “Lege Artis” Tuzla 2027 will be held in the period from June 03. to June 06, 2027, and invites all choir and vocal ensembles application programs for the competition in the performance of choral/vocal compositions at the 12th. edition of the International Choir Championship “Lege Artis” Tuzla 2027

03. June 2027 – 06. June, 2027

Deadline for aplication May, 02. 2027.

Starting this year, the International Choral Championship Lege Artis Tuzla will officially include a revue/non-competitive program for choirs and vocal ensembles that do not wish to participate in the competitive part of the Championship.

The application deadline for the revue program is May 2, 2027.

COMPETITION REGULATIONS

Competition Categories

Choirs participating in the 12th International Choral Championship Lege Artis Tuzla 2027 will compete in the following categories:

1. Children’s Choirs

a) Children’s Choirs (up to 11 years of age)

• Unison or two-part repertoire;
• Performance time: up to 10 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Instrumental accompaniment is permitted;
• Repertoire of the choir’s own choice.

b) Children’s Choirs (12–16 years of age)

• Polyphonic repertoire;
• Performance time: up to 12 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• At least one composition must be performed a cappella;
• Instrumental accompaniment is permitted;
• Repertoire of the choir’s own choice.

2. Female Choirs

• Free-choice repertoire with a maximum performance time of 13 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

3. Male Choirs

• Free-choice repertoire with a maximum performance time of 13 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

4. Vocal Ensembles (up to 12 singers)

• Free-choice repertoire with a maximum performance time of 13 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

5. Mixed Choirs (more than 28 singers)

• Free-choice repertoire with a maximum performance time of 18 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

6. Chamber Mixed Choirs (14–28 singers)

• Free-choice repertoire with a maximum performance time of 18 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

7. Youth Choirs

• Choirs whose members are 15 to 21 years of age;
• Up to 20% of the choir members may exceed the age limit, provided they are not older than 23 years;
• Free-choice repertoire with a maximum performance time of 15 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Instrumental accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

8. Sacred Music Choirs and Vocal Ensembles

• Polyphonic sacred music repertoire of the ensemble’s own choice;
• Maximum performance time of 13 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for one composition in the competition programme.

9. Popular Music

(Number of performers is unlimited.)

• The programme may include arrangements of pop, rock, jazz and other contemporary musical styles;
• Maximum performance time of 13 minutes, including stage entrance and exit;
• At least one composition must be performed a cappella;
• Piano accompaniment is permitted for a maximum of three compositions.

10. Folklore

Open category for all types of choirs and vocal ensembles, with no age restrictions.

The competition programme should consist of folk song arrangements or compositions inspired by the folk music tradition of the country or region represented by the ensemble.

Instrumental accompaniment and moderate stage presentation are permitted, provided they are consistent with the character of the performed works and do not compromise the artistic quality of the choral performance.

Grand Prix Competition – “Golden Lyre”

Choirs receiving the First Prize with the highest score in their respective categories qualify for the final competition for the Grand Prix “Golden Lyre”, which will take place on the final day of the Championship.

Each participating ensemble shall perform two compositions:

• one composition may be repeated from the first round of the competition;
• the second composition must be new.

The Jury reserves the right to invite more than one ensemble from a particular category to participate in the Grand Prix competition.

Should no ensemble in a category achieve the score required for a First Prize, that category will not be represented in the Grand Prix competition.

General Information

• Applications must be submitted through the official Championship website.
• For additional information, participants may contact the Championship Director via Viber or WhatsApp at +387 62 492 457.
• The participation fee (donation) is EUR 150 per ensemble.
• Upon arrival, each ensemble is required to submit five copies of the complete competition scores.

Awards

Performances will be evaluated by the International Jury using a scale from 0 to 100 points, according to the following system:

• 0.00 – 69.99 – Certificate of Participation
• 70.00 – 79.99 – Third Prize
• 80.00 – 90.00 – Second Prize
• 90.01 – 100.00 – First Prize

At the conclusion of each competition day, category winners will be announced and diplomas presented together with the Jury’s artistic comments.

Following the Grand Prix competition on the final day, the following awards will be presented:

• Grand Prix of the 12th International Choral Championship Lege Artis Tuzla 2027 – “Golden Lyre”
• Cash Voucher in the amount of EUR 500

• “Čestmir Mirko Dušek” Award for the Best Conductor
• Award for the Best Performance of an Early Music Composition
• Award for the Best Performance of a Composition by a Composer from Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Award for the Best Performance of a Contemporary Composition
• Award for Outstanding Artistic Performance
• Award for the Best Soloist
• Award for the Best Instrumental Accompaniment
• Award for the Best Performance of a Romantic Period Composition

Participation Fee

The participation fee (donation) is EUR 150 per ensemble.

Jury

The International Jury of the Choral Championship consists of distinguished conductors and choral professionals with extensive international experience in conducting, artistic performance and the organization of choral events.

The Jury is international in composition, entirely independent in its work, and all of its decisions are final.

Non-Competitive Program of the International Choral Championship Lege Artis Tuzla 2027

The non-competitive program of the International Choral Championship Lege Artis Tuzla 2027 is open to all choirs and vocal ensembles performing polyphonic choral music.

Choirs and vocal ensembles wishing to participate in the non-competitive program of the Championship should submit their application no later than May 2, 2027 on mail: ug.gudla@gmail.com

The application should be submitted in free form and should include:

• a performance program of up to 10 minutes,
• a biography of the choir or vocal ensemble,
• a biography of the conductor or artistic director,
• a YouTube link or recording of one of the choir’s/vocal ensemble’s most recent performances.

Registered choirs and vocal ensembles will undergo a selection process conducted by the Artistic Committee of the Championship. All registered ensembles will be informed about the selection results no later than May 8, 2027.

Choirs and vocal ensembles, as well as conductors/artistic directors participating in the non-competitive program, will receive certificates of appreciation for their participation. The non-competitive program also offers an opportunity for socializing, exchanging sheet music, sharing artistic experiences, and connecting with other ensembles.

There is no participation fee for the non-competitive program of the Championship.

The non-competitive program of the Championship will take place on Friday, June 4, 2027, at 7:00 PM.
